Calvary 4-Wheelers

Annual Meeting: Bill's Remarks

Looking back at 2011 you could think it was a less than successful year.

Numbers were down for the first time in several years with fewer runs and smaller crowds,

but success for Calvary 4-Wheelers has never been about the numbers.

Success for Calvary 4-Wheelers has always been about going to interesting places,

building relationships,

meeting God in his beautiful creation,

and making each trip the best it can be for those who do show up.

We had a great year playing in the snow,

meeting new friends,

splashing through streams,

crawling over rocks,

being awed by panoramic vistas,

and indulging in gourmet meals.

We went to some old familiar places,

and visited some new ones.

We enjoyed balmy, spring weather in Moab,

and beautiful fall colors in the Rockies.

By all the measures that really matter, we had a very successful year.

Looking ahead to 2012 there are three things I think stand out.

New Trails: About half of the runs we have planned for the upcoming year are on trails that are new to us. Several others, such as Moon Gulch include segments or side trails we haven’t explored or are trails we haven’t been to in a long time, like Hacket Gulch.

Missing in action: I would like to see each of us make an effort to reach out to some of our absent members and let them know they are missed.

Crawl 4 Christ: We have an opportunity to participate in something bigger than just out little group. The United Christian Off-Road Alliance is holding their annual Crawl 4 Christ in our neck of the woods.
