Helping Hands is a men's team ministry of Calvary Church born out of New Commandment Men's Ministries.
In small groups of four, we minister to people with long term needs, such as the widowed, single parents and the disabled. The second Saturday of each month, we all meet together at 8:00 a.m. at the church for an hour of prayer and devotional time. At 9:00 a.m., in individual teams, we go out and work in the homes of our care receivers for two hours, sometimes a bit more. We do basic chores around the home such as fixing leaky faucets, cleaning windows, hauling trash, etc. At the end of our work time, we gather around our care receiver and pray with him or her.
Each month, the same team returns to the same care receiver, so our ministry to him or her is also a long lasting relationship. We pray for the other people living on the streets where we work; we make our services available to other widowed or single parents on the street. In this way, our ministry often extends into the community.
